Environment Day 2026 Celebrated at Sarvodaya Vidyalaya

Sarvodaya Vidyalaya, Trivandrum, observed World Environment Day with great enthusiasm and a renewed commitment towards environmental conservation. The programme marked the inauguration of the school’s Environment Club, aimed at fostering environmental awareness and sustainable practices among students.

The event commenced with a prayer song by the School Choir, followed by a warm welcome address by Head Boy Mstr. Rayyan A. R. The gathering was presided over by the Principal, Mr. John Kurian, who emphasized the importance of nurturing environmentally responsible citizens and encouraged students to actively participate in eco-friendly initiatives.

The highlight of the programme was the inauguration of the Environment Club by Shri. Alfred O. V., IAS, Sub Collector, Thiruvananthapuram, who also delivered the keynote address. In his inspiring address, he urged students to become guardians of nature and reminded them that protecting the environment is a shared responsibility.

A thought-provoking poem on nature added a creative touch to the programme. Rev. Fr. Abraham Uzhathil, Bursar of the school, felicitated the gathering and highlighted the importance of adopting environmentally conscious practices in daily life.

As part of the celebrations, students and teachers actively participated in a “Planting a Sapling” Campaign within the school campus. The initiative symbolized the school’s commitment to a greener future and encouraged every participant to contribute towards ecological sustainability. Following the planting ceremony, students and staff took a pledge to protect and nurture the saplings, ensuring their healthy growth and reaffirming their dedication to conserving nature and preserving the environment for future generations.

The programme concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by School Captain Miss Navami R. Chandra. The celebration served as a meaningful reminder that small actions, when undertaken collectively, can create a lasting impact on the environment.

With the message “Together for a Greener Tomorrow,” the event inspired the entire school community to become responsible stewards of the Earth and work towards a cleaner, greener, and more sustainable future.
